About
Built in 1903, the main house was one of the original farmhouses along the St. Clair River in the hamlet of Frog Point. The Canada Southern Railway ran through nearby fields, stopping in Courtright, where visitors stayed at Hotel Bedard or crossed by ferry to St. Clair, Michigan.
During U.S. Prohibition in the 1920s, the area became known for rum running across the river. Local lore says cars were lost on the ice, and a hidden cavity beneath the front hall in the house still holds relics from that time.
After World War II, a six-room lodge was built to house farm workers and labourers supporting nearby industry. In the 1980s, the property was acquired by our family and named the Frog Point Motel.
Today, the renovated Frog Point Inn continues this tradition, offering a six-room boutique stay for working guests and visitors seeking a peaceful retreat along the scenic St. Clair River.
